Responsible for technology, but without a technology background, Michael Morgan relies on GCT as his technology partner to provide turnkey solutions. A relationship spanning 15 years to date, GCT have managed multiple server, network, and PC refreshes for Carlile Dowling and manage their monthly IT requirements, provide day-to-day business IT support, and managed IT resiliency.
During Cyclone Gabrielle, Carlile Dowling was isolated with no power. They were unable to operate so GCT kicked into gear moving their Napier based server to the GCT – generator-backed – Data Centre in Hastings and very quickly, the business was operational again. GCT gave the Carlile Dowling team space in the GCT Hastings office until power was restored to Napier. Then, when the power to Napier was back on, GCT got their Napier office up and running.
Safeguarding against future natural disasters or crises, Carlile Dowling is now equipped with a managed IT resiliency service from GCT. This provides a recovery service into the GCT Data Centre on demand and ultimate peace of mind – something GCT recommends all customers should consider.
With staff working differently, more part time people, flexible hours, and work from home, GCT moved the business to be mostly cloud-based, enabling greater flexibility for staff and efficiencies for the business. Day-to-day business operations are enabled with GCT internet and phone services and supported by continuous business-level IT support. Business continuity is supported with active service management, antivirus and managed backups.
